Okay...
POSTED AT 07:25 PM

So I just un-friends only-d my posts since the summer began

So y'all who aren't tabulas userse can see that I'm still alive and I'm still posting.

So American Idol day again. Can I just say that with those performances, Scott probably shouldn't go home? His "On Broadway" (which is a song I'm very very fond of) was great. I'm going so far as to agree with Simon that it was by far his best. Good for him.

If it's based on tonight's performances, Anthony is the only one who should be packing his bags. They were both awful.

Carrie was good (I'm admitting this begrudgingly), and Vonzell was great, although I think choosing the American Idol Red Cross single to sing was a bit cheesy and sell-out-y. She sang it beautifully though.

And Bo was a-MA-zing. Like, ding-dang-hello-oh-my-lord brilliant. I just adore him and his affable self. Hello, American Idol? Like, yuh.

Anyway, who will go home tomorrow? It should be Anthony, but I think the Constantine backlash will prove too much for Scott and I think he'll be going home.

The rest of my life has been subsequently boring. I've been uploading my files (yeah, Roy, I already opened it to public viewing) and I'm up to the block EK thing already. Almost done!

I truly find it mind-numbingly hilarious...
POSTED AT 04:58 PM

That people are so upset about Constantine. Sure, I was shocked. Sure, I liked the guy.

I never realized he was so popular pala in this country. Yun lang. That's what I found so freaking hilarious.

Not to bash any Constantine lovers though. I understand your pain. If Bo were in his place, I would be swearing off American Idol too.

Anyway, I think I'm done with my photobucket now. Whee-ness! I love it! Visit visit visit please. :D Currently listening to: Let's Stay Together - Al Green

Dan Brown, etc!
POSTED AT 04:27 PM

So, I've finally read The Da Vinci Code, and I stand by what I said. "It's not as awesome as it's made out to be."

First of all, several inconsistencies. Then there's the way he writes. I feel like he's going to burst into Romance Novel-ish at any moment. Please. Although I adore what he's talking about (historical gossip and conspiracies!! Which part of that sentence does not scream "Cat"?!), I don't think he does justice to it. Hmm. That's just me.

I still love the His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman best of all. Just LOVE it. -adoration- The movie's coming out soon, and I just hope it lives up to the books. Now, Dan Brown can take lessons from Mr. Pullman. He knows how to write romance scenes without making it seem too paperback Silhouette-y. Props to him :D And the way he writes gut-wrenching scenes is a class unto itself. -bow before him-

Note to self: Need to buy CDs. Hard drive is begging for salvation.

Ooh, I don't usually make book wish lists, but there's one particular book I saw in Powerbooks yesterday that made my mouth water.

An Illustrated Guide to Ancient Greece

OMFG. Drool, keep it in, keep it in. Dream-come-freaking-true, I swear. The only think that will top that is any in-depth discussion on the Persian Wars. Which I haven't seen since A Different Bookstore in Eastwood. *pout* Currently feeling: chipper

Hahahahaah!!

Fangirliness and my life (A Perfect Combination)
POSTED AT 05:10 PM

*Insert fangirliness*

HP-related
OMFG!! HWATF12 is up and I've just about finished reading it and it's so fucking amazing!! I loved Lori's style before this, but THIS takes the CAKE. She's brilliant. Fabulous, amazing, awesome, every synonym to "great" ever created. It's not so much as how she writes (although she's fantastic at that too), but her plot twists. She's even better (dare I say it) than the original author.

To any Pott-head who indulges in fanfiction, this is a MUST-READ. I'm telling you. It's off-the-wall GREAT. I can even say it's better than Cassie Claire's Draco Trilogy and Barb's Psychic Serpent saga.

Idol-related
Corey Clark is scum. I believe Paula more than a consummate liar who just wants publicity and attention.
Rumors are circulating that Big Band is the next theme. Am I worried for Bo? Of course not. I just downloaded his recording of "Let It Snow" and his voice sounds so 'big-band-jazzy' that it was really STARTLING. Who'da thunk, right? Hmm... I think he can pull it off ^_^

*end fangirliness*

Anyway, I passed the TNT interviews!! I didn't think I would pass, really. Stupid acting on my part. No, really. STOOPID acting. I'm glad, and relieved that this is all over. Now, all I have to worry about are the group-songs and etcetera. Kaya toh!

Congrats to everyone who passed! I heard: Christina, Pau, Marc, Henson, Fidz. Did you pass too? Let me know! Currently listening to: An Everlasting Love - Andy Gibb
Currently reading: Artemis Fowl - Opal Deception

OMG
POSTED AT 12:03 PM

I have what the Idols are singing today.

Themes
"Nashville" aka Country
1. Carrie Underwood - Sin Wagon (originally Dixie Chicks)
2. Bo Bice - A Great Day to Be Alive (originally done by Travis Tritt)
3. Vonzell Solomon - How Do I Live Without You (originally by Trisha Yearwood)
4. Anthony Federov - I'm Already There (originally by... I'm not sure. I'll repost when I find out)

The Philly Sound/Music by Gamble and Huff
1. Carrie Underwood - If You Don't Know Me By Now
2. Bo Bice - For the Love of Money
3. Vonzell Solomon - Don't Leave Me This Way
4. Anthony Federov - If You Don't Know Me By Now (same as Carrie!)

Things to look out for tonight:
1. What people so lovingly refer to as a "Jasmine Trias" move, and on the same week too!
2. Mattress-dancing, by the Queen of Robotics
3. Someone wearing a suit + flip-slops and looking gorgeous in them
4. Mikalah, La Toya, Jasmine and John in the audience.
5. Two of the contestants getting teary (reference to point 1)
6. The judges actually CRITICIZING. Yes, even Simon to fembot.
7. The Apprentice Theme being sung by someone.

It's going to be a bumpy show tonight.

No bottom two, I think. Just straight-out results.

And we finally see Bo's first audition! Which was hawt, according to lots of people. Thanks to Kate and Jepoy for voting for me ^_^. Currently listening to: Seinfeld on right now

Dum-da-dum
POSTED AT 03:13 PM

For more American Idol intrigue...

And...

Hmf. Won't comment on that.

And finally...

I actually think they're cute. Anthony and Carrie, I mean. Not Carrie and Bo. Pur-lease.

Anthony and Bo are both girlfriend-ed, by the way. Nothing going on with either of them and Carrie. Carrie and Bo - brother-sister relationship. Carrie and Anthony - just really close friends. Like best buds on the show, methinks.

Intriguing pictures of Carrie and Constantine mock-proposing in the red room somewhere. Both are single and of age so who knows? ^_^ Better him than them.

Off to Ateneo right now. Toodles! *will sleep over at my Lola's place tonight Should be fun. Girl bonding!!* Currently watching: Rugrats!!

Highlights of the Weekend
~ Bonding with cousins and titas
~ Going to Gateway (for the first time )
~ Letting it all out
~ Drinking with the cousins and titos and titas
~ Cousin conversations
~ Getting faster internet! ^_^
~ Changing something about the way I look

I'd say the most major is the last one. Y'all will know when you see me.

We have faster internet!! It's Broadband and its pretty fast. Ranging from 150 to 300 Kbps. And it's less than 1000 pesos per month, so it's all good. My dad says it'll keep me at home. My laptop's on the whole day na. Hahahaha!

It was a pretty busy weekend. I enjoyed it. Many crazy secrets spilled. Many sober thoughts shared. Love you, cousins. :*

Anyway, on the AI front, the show is once again plagued by controversy since Anthony's girlfriend is claiming that Anthony broke up with her for Carrie. I totally don't think they're an item, but according to Carrie, she says that she and Anthony have "a connection that no one else understands". Wow. How soap opera-ish. Anthony denies, but Carrie stokes the flame. Farmbot meh. If Carrie doesn't win American Idol, she'd settle for becoming a weather girl. Ha! Talk about two different mindsets.

I have the mp3s of the AI4 CD and... well... it's not as fabulous as I thought last season's was. It's kinda disappointing really. Mikalah, Carrie, Bo, Constantine, Jessica, Nadia and Nikko on the CD sound great, but the problem is the arrangements and the background music and all that. Who produced this album?! Was it Desmond Child? No offense, but if it was, then the production was bad.

On this week's TV Guide, the coverstory is "Days of Their Lives", referring of course to the American Idols.

Days of Their Lives
Think you know everything about American Idol? Think again. TV Guide got a backstage pass the week before the final four were picked and found out what really goes on behind the scenes of TV's biggest show. We looked in as Bo Bice, Carrie Underwood, Anthony Fedorov, Vonzell Solomon and Scott Savol worried over song choices, shopped till they dropped, sipped the Pepto and sized up their rivals. Here's a detailed account of the first two days of their week. Follow the rest of their countdown to the Wednesday night results show in the May 22 issue of TV Guide.

THURSDAY
8 am: Bo should be on top of the world. Instead, his broad shoulders seem to be carrying the weight of the world.
Just a few hours earlier, he became one of American Idol's Final Five, watching as friend and competitor Constantine Maroulis was voted off the show. Still, as this good ol' boy with the big hair and even bigger voice trudges into a rehearsal studio on the show's Hollywood set, you'd almost think he was the week's loser.
"This is a dangerous portion," says Bo, who spent most of the night helping Constantine pack his bags. "Anything can happen. I really didn't think he would be going home at all. I thought I'd be home before he was." He pauses for a moment. "I would rather be voted off than watch my friends go. It hurts too much."
10 am: Who knew there were actually two Anthonys? There's the one everybody who watches Idol knows: the smooth and soulful singer who seems supremely confident each week in front of 28 million viewers. But then there's the other Anthony, the one who is sitting in a rehearsal studio, shoulders slumped and looking frail and unsure.
His problem? Maybe it's the fact that Thursday is song-selection day, the time when the performers must decide what tunes they'll be performing for the nation the following week. Pick the wrong song and Simon Cowell will chew you up like a Triscuit.
"It takes the boys about 20 minutes to decide and the girls two to three hours," says Michael Orland, one of the show's associate music directors. To which Carrie notes with a wide grin, "Well, guess who has been kicked off the last weeks? Boys! Maybe they should take more time."
Meanwhile, Anthony has finally chosen his music: the Backstreet Boys' "Incomplete." It seems like a prophetic selection as the shy guy softly sings the line, "Where I am going is anybody's guess."
11 am: If there's one thing Bo loves more than singing, it's shopping. That would explain why he's out scouring the stores on Sunset Boulevard while the competition is back rehearsing. Intrigued by a boutique filled with all sorts of cowboy clothing, he wanders in and drops more than $1,000 of his own money on a new outfit for next week's show. He laughs when he imagines what animal-lover Carrie will think. "She is going to kick my ass," he says.
5 pm: It's not easy being Scott. He's been one of Simon's prime targets all season. Still, as he shops for clothes, a fan rushes up and hands him a $100 bill to autograph. "You can sing! I hope you win!" she gushes.
Then three young students come over to pay their respects. After listening to them for a moment, Scott leans in and offers these words of advice: "Education is better than singing. I am finding that out." After a quick dinner of beef and chicken burritos, he and Anthony meet up to take a few swings at a nearby batting cage. Then it's back to the apartment they share with Bo.
"[Even] if I walk out of here next Wednesday," Scott says confidently, "[I'm told I'll] probably have a record in the stores by December. As far as what I think I want out of [this], I've already accomplished it by coming here and getting the opportunity they've given us."

FRIDAY
8:30 am: It's no secret that the Final Five are all counting on their Idol appearances to give their careers a big bounce. They probably just never figured it would happen so literally.
They've dragged themselves into this soundstage bright and early for their TV Guide photo shoot, only to discover that they're all supposed to climb onto the trampoline in the center of the room. Nobody looks very excited about the idea. Except Bo. Without hesitation, he quickly hops up and begins bouncing around. The camera starts clicking away, but nobody jumps up to join him.
"You're never going to get me on there," Scott announces to nobody in particular. "If I get on, I'd never make it off."
10 am: This is like discovering the homecoming queen has a side job down at the local gentleman's club. Showing no signs of the chest aches that sidelined her earlier in the week, the prim and proper Carrie is shimmying her way across the rehearsal stage. "I'm evil! I'm evil! Don't you mess with me!" she growls through the Elvis Presley tune "Trouble."
As she finishes, vocal coach Debra Byrd still doesn't seem quite satisfied. "We know you can sing," she tells Carrie. "Now you need to make [the audience] go, 'Wow!'"
The perky blond politely accepts the advice, but a few minutes later, she looks less than pleased. Adopting the squeaky voice of a 5-year-old, she mocks her sultry performance by repeating the "I'm evil!" line over and over.
"I'm so uncomfortable with this," she finally says, her trademark smile gone, "because I'm not evil at all!"
11:30 am: Nobody has won this contest yet, but the perks are already coming in. For instance, the men have received diamond cuff links while the women are flashing diamond rings. They're from judge Paula Abdul, courtesy of the Diamond Federation. Paula has made a tradition of rewarding the top finalists with a gift. The contestants have come up with a nickname for her: "Paula Claus."
"It's good there are only two women left," jokes a beaming Carrie. "If there were more, [the rings] would have had smaller diamonds."
2 pm: If Vonzell doesn't make it to the top on Idol, perhaps she could stay in show biz with a starring role in the next Karate Kid movie, judging by the Mr. Miyagi-like moves she's currently demonstrating in the rehearsal studio. She is probably the most nervous of all the finalists, and during stressful weeks like this one, this black belt has started to unwind by practicing a variety of breathing exercises before starting to sing.
"It's really about getting your mind clear," she says serenely. "Whatever you have going on that is negative, it goes out." (Unless, of course, it's name happens to be Simon.) Currently listening to: Straight Up - Paula Abdul

Yadda-yadda-yo! Music tripping.
POSTED AT 07:16 PM

Guess who has the complete songs on both "Exgratia" and the "SugarMoney EP"? ^_^

I'm so totally psyched. I haven't listened to the songs on the "SugarMoney EP" yet because... just because. I wanted to have time to appreciate all the songs on one go.

I also bought a new mp3 CD of folk, country and blues. Songs by Art Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, Eric Clapton, Gordon Lightfoot, Janis Joplin, Lynyrd Skynyrd (!!), Neil Young, Three Dog Night and The Guess Who. It's going to be an interesting listen. I can't wait til I music-trip tonight!! Currently listening to: Mom watching k-dramas.

I miss James Marsters, the gorgeous Spike. I miss all the Spuffy-ness. I miss the Scoobies. I miss the witty repartee, the double entendres, the great one-liners. Sigh. I miss the Buffy series!

Must borrow Jaja's complete DVD set of the whole BtVS series.

Happy Bo Bice Day :D Apparently, the governor of Alabama just officially declared May 24th Bo Bice Day.

PROCLAMATION

By the Governor of Alabama

WHEREAS, Bo Bice was born in Huntsville, Alabama and attended Calhoun Community College and the University of North Alabama in Florence; and

WHEREAS, out of over 100,000 people who auditioned, he was chosen to be a contestant on the fourth season of the popular Fox Network television show, American Idol ; and

WHEREAS, Bo Bice began singing as soon as he could talk and has been performing since he was nine years of age; and

WHEREAS, his voice has earned him a top spot on American Idol, but his other musical talents include, playing the piano, guitar, bass, sax, harmonica and writing songs; and

WHEREAS, his excellent performances on American Idol have won the hearts of millions of viewers across the nation and earned him a spot as one of the final two contending for a recording contract; and

WHEREAS, Bo Bice has expressed his love for the great state of Alabama and Helena, Alabama, where he now lives and has become known for his Southern Rock style; and

WHEREAS, on numerous episodes his talents have won him praise from the show's judges and fans alike for his music style:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Bob Riley, Governor of the State of Alabama, do hereby proclaim, Tuesday, May 24, 2005, as Bo Bice Day in the State of Alabama and encourage all citizens to support and watch Bo Bice on American Idol and vote for him after his live performance. Given Under My Hand and the Great Seal of the Office of the Governor at the State Capitol in the City of Montgomery on the 23th day of May 2005.

Now is that pompous or what? It's totally funny. ^_^

CONTENDER FANS: No more Contender after this season, I heard.

I'm so happy that FOX renewed Arrested Development! But I'm kinda PO'd that they nixed Joan of Arcadia for Jennifer Love-Hewitt's newest TV show about a girl who can talk to ghosts. They cancelled a show about a girl who talks to God to sign on a show about a girl who talks to ghosts. Anyone else recognize what's wrong in that sentence?

I have a question for everyone on my tabulas friends list.

See, my mom and I were talking about international film stars from Asia and how they were making it big in Hollywood.

Mom: "Filipinos should look into getting into that market too. We're so behind."
Me: "Yeah, but who would you get from this movie industry, di ba?"
* Moment of silence for thinking *
Me: "Cesar Montano."
Mom: "Yeah, but he's old. But aside from that... Hmm... Pwede..."
Me: "He's, like, our Tom Hanks."

But then she had to leave, and she left me with the assignment of thinking about that. So I'm asking YOU. Who do you think has the chops (meaning, acting skills, charisma and looks) to cope with the international movie scene? Currently listening to: If You Could Read My Mind - Gordon Lightfoot
